wake, wake up Susie

wake, wake up Susie .. .

.. .

Oh the grey grey and the sea sea sky
with its tangerines and sliver peach plums
laid out on the kitchen table
with smudged crayolas and spilt glass milk
stubborn raucous standing awkward
on his jackass, black pole
with his good morning stutter
his bathroom kookaburra gargle
garbage collector breath
another did we put the bin out welcome
to one more paradox of complicated emotion
flee away you makeup cleaning
fluffed up cotton bugbear streamers
laid out like seven nymphs of Pleiades
to drag me into your vortexed empty hole
suffocate within your woolly chestful of deceit
and embroidered vests as in times of old
when we all ran with Artemis
had no issue with the ‘one shot’
killed the dear, earth’s princely animal
his eyes black, cold and still
laid out on the golden heather crimson
i’ve woken up now to those games you play
earth wardens
Zimmerman’s masters of war
i’ve had my coffee and drunk my asphalt tea
understood messages written
by old backwood trees
who watch like Whistler’s mother
cloaked in their witchy warnings
they hide the sun as it were an illusion
